Star Vs. The Forces of Evil Season 3 Finale

Star is the only competent person in a two hundred mile radius which, relateable.

I really enjoyed Tom('s samurai getup) and Marco hanging out while they tried to capture Meteora.

Marco thinks up a plan that involves a trap but it ended up with Meteora taking the souls of Jorby, Nachos, Kelly, Hekapoo and Ponyhead, much to the delight of everyone who is not me.

Nice callback to mentioning how Tom has thousands of spirits within him.

For once, Moon's life doesn't totally suck, and she's having fun in the Realm of Magic.

Even with all her precautions, Star still falls victim to the Realm of Magic.

This lasts for about ten minutes.

A lot of people who have problems with Star and Moon staying in the Realm of Magic, which I get, and if I hadn't seen the climactic final battle where I knew Star would escape, the tension would have been too much to bear.

Turns out the realm of magic can lead you to many different dimensions, including the magic fountain in Mewni where Moon took Star and the remains of the Magic High Commission, random places with wooden doors, and some place that looks like Mars.

A unicorn zaps Moon and Star somewhere. Star wakes up back in her bed, but Moon?

Who knows. Also, Marco and River lose their souls too, and Tom is the only one standing, and shelters people down in the Underworld....but Star won't go with him.

And even if she's not the blood heir of Mewni, she's still queen, and the people of Mewni need her.

Many people in Mewni have had their souls stolen; And Meteora has nearly destroyed the castle, including a hall with tapestries of queens that I don't remember seeing before;

Of course, Eclipsa's is fine. Which is what matters.

Were Solaria and Selena real Butterflies or part of the Faketriarchy?

Eclipsa has been freed somehow and then we are treated to a beautifully animated fight.

Meteora says that Star can't right the wrongs of her family, and Star gives up her magic dot that she got from the well. I wonder if they put Festivia in that magic well when they made her queen?

And right before she's killed, Eclipsa comes in and basically punishes her daughter WITH MAGIC.

And this?

What was this, uh, Velvet Butterfly Inferno? Midnight Shriek.
Let's talk about how the wand remembers spells from past queens.

THIS IS AWESOME.

WHOA.
She's dead now, right?

But no, Meteora comes back as a baby. Which is fine, I guess. No need to let the name Meteora go to waste by having her be truly dead.

So Eclipsa, her daughter, and the Royal Wand of Mewni leave.

I'm Mary Poppins, ya'll.

Wait a minute - yes, Star gives back the wand to the (Second to) last real Butterfly.
We will probably see more of Eclipsa and yes, because her magic is awesome.

Where are they going?

To reunite with Globgor, says a decidedly-not Jeffrey Tambor - Glossaryk. He's been telling us all season!

I'd be angry too, the love of my life was imprisoned, her kingdom stolen, and my daughter also stolen. And, you know, I have a feeling Globgor might want some revenge on Mewnians...

And considering Mina Loveberry, who had her soul taken and restored...yeah, welcome back to the Monsters and Mewmans conflict.

Time for the long, long wait until Season 4! Which will now air on Disney Channel proper instead of XD.

Considering this episode was finished about a week and a half ago, I don't expect to see Season 4 until about January of next year. BUT, Adam McArthur (Marco) did say that he had recorded some of the first episodes of Season 4 in Summer of 2017, so who knows?

Don't be shy, but don't be a dick either.

8 A Quiet Place Day One

It's carried by Lupita, because the narrative doesn't have the strongest punch to really get across its themes.
