Introducing Chapter 2 + Blondie's Just Right

Welcome back to Chapter 2 of our Ever After High retrospective.

I want to point out a few things;

* I will watch the specials that I can find easily. 90% of the time, I do not own Netflix, and truth be told, the later specials don't matter anyway besides looking nice and going to different places. Dragon Games is kind of an exception to that, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

* Some episodes are listed in a bit of an odd order between sites, both on the wikia (which is a good resource) and Mattel's actual upload. With the exception of some episodes with clear chronology, it doesn't really matter.

Here's the episode listing;

  1. Blondie's Just Right
  2. True Hearts Day Part 1
  3. True Hearts Day Part 2
  4. True Hearts Day Part 3
  5. Class Confusion
  6. Apple's Birthday Bake-Off
  7. The Beautiful Truth
  8. MirrorNet Down
  9. Rebel's Got Talent
  10. Once Upon a Table
  11. Blondie Branches Out
  12. Poppy the Roybel
  13. O'Hair's Split Ends
  14. Maddie's Hat-Tastic Party
  15. Lizzie Heart's Fairytale First Date
  16. Apple's Princess Practice
  17. Lizzie Shuffles the Deck
  18. Duchess Swan's Lake
  19. Cerise's Picnic Panic
  20. Kitty's Curious Tale
  21. Cupid Comes Clean... Kinda
    1. The Thronecoming special goes here, and we will look at it!
  22. And the Thronecoming Queen is...
  23. Best Feather Forward
And since that was remarkably short, here is a look at the first episode in the Chapter, Blondie's Just Right

When Blondie Lockes™ uses her MirrorCast to prove that Ever After High's legends are true, Headmaster Grimm goes to great lengths to make sure her show ends up being just right.
Grimm knows he works in a world of lies, and so he gets to pay puppetmaster. Mind you, he's not orchestrating a lofty story like that of Snow White, but instead of very small, local tales, which are the kind of stuff no one really cares about at all.

 So they visit the Tower Hair Salon, but it's about another ten or so episodes until we're introduced to Poppy O'Hair, so for now Blondie has just commandeered this random station.

The first ""legend""? "Troll tears make awesome shampoo!"

You know what? She's right.

But it turns out that Grimm switched the bottles without anyone seeing him whatsoever, and restored the correct concoction, and Cedar's hair returns to normal.

It's strange - wouldn't people just see that the bottles were switched?  The bottles have labels on them but that's it - for all they know, Blondie could have simply picked up the wrong bottle at first. This doesn't really disprove anything.

Also the fact that this entire webshow is recorded live on the equivalent of an iPad is remarkable.

Next up - are giants terrible dancers? We'll see, with the help of Duchess Swan and Tiny the giant;

She's the purple-y girl.

Once again, everything goes opposite to what's been shown. At this point, if you're watching, you should be expecting foul play. Or 'fowl' play, as the case may be. Grimm interferes, and this clear and utter involvement into a scientific experiment is not questioned by anyone.

This is Sparrow Hood, son of Robin Hood, and yes, he is distantly related to Cerise.

He's here to play music to convince the Griffon to leave it's nest. Instead, the horse-bird starts rocking out. Maybe he should have played badly and it would have left.

Since it'd rather hang out at Coachspella, It's up to Grimm to poke it in the bum and try to shoo it away. The bird ends up beating the shit out of him and it's kind of hilarious.

Ya'll gon' make me lose my mind.

With the "myth" "proven", Grimm goes to Blondie, who is excited and has many more ideas, which causes him to groan in exhaustion.

It was cool to see outside of the school and new characters. Thing is, the myths are so bland that it feels like they were made up in universe. That no one thought about them before and the whole thing was kind of workshopped on the fly.

Integrating them with the histories of the students would have been cool too;

  •  "Can Blondie really unlock every door she finds?" (Yes, it's in her profile.)
  • "Can absolutely any pair of shoes, no matter the size, fit perfectly on Ashlynn?" (I made that up. But sure, let's say yes.)
  • "Can you put a curse on your encrypted data that will kill whoever tries to open its contents in the Mirrornet?" (I have no idea what this has to do with any story but why not)
Stuff like that.

Don't be shy, but don't be a dick either.

8 A Quiet Place Day One

    It's carried by Lupita, because the narrative doesn't have the strongest punch to really get across its themes.
