The decade is done/new! Funny how that works. Most of these movies clearly have no information besides release dates and titles, but I do this every year.
PUSHED BACK, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN.
My Spy's original release date was August 23rd, the Friday of the week I'm starting this issue, before being pushed back to our old film friend, "Fuck You, It's January".
Of course, Sonic The Hedgehog has been pushed from this November to next February. Not much farther to wait, considering they have to redesign the titular character.
The Gentlemen, yet another STX property in a lackluster year, was pushed from this fall to next January.
For the second year in a row, Artemis Fowl is my most anticipated movie. Not because it was so good, I want to anticipate it again - Because it didn't come out August 9th, 2019, with a pushback to May 29th, 2020.
For the eleventh-thousandth time, The New Mutants has been pushed back to April 3rd, almost two years to the date of it's original release. Will it finally make it to theaters, or be pushed back again - or even put on Disney+ or Hulu?
IT'S SONY'S WORLD, AND I'M JUST LIVING IN IT.
The surprise Sony Picture of 2018 (That wasn't Spider-man), was, for me, Peter Rabbit. Even with James Corden. And now there's a sequel! Fuck yeah!Shortly afterward, we go to the semi-other side of the table with Bloodshot. Which is PG-13. Can't have it all, I guess. Seems like it should be rated R to me, but I know shit all about it.
Oddly, Sony Pictures Animation has a spot in July, a week before their Morbius movie, and my probably second most anticipated movie of the year, The Mitchells Vs. The Machines.
WHERE'S (TO BE) WICKED?
Remember when Universal's Wicked movie was supposed to come out in December 2019? Then December 2020? That's probably not happening. It could possibly be the date on July 17th. Doubt it.
HAVE SOME MORE MUSICALS
Not to worry, we have In The Heights in June and West Side Story in December.
ANIMATION DOESN'T GET A SNAZZY TITLE
In 2018, Disney had, through 2 different studios, two movies that entered the award circuit at every turn.
90% of the time, they lost to Sony's "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse". Yes, it was co-produced with Marvel, I know. To animation fans, it's a win against the favorite child of The Academy.
2019 has Toy Story 4 and Frozen 2, and it looks like Disney will be fighting itself to the excitement of 0 people writing this post.
2020? Pixar comes back with Soul and Onward, but who knows if Sony Pictures Animation will pull another upset? Don't forget about Vivo!
D23 Has come, and with it some new shots and synopsises of both of Pixar's movies;
re: Soul#Onward has a complicated premise that requires these two elf bros (Tom Holland, Chris Pratt) to carry around a limp version of their dead dad. In other words. #D23 pic.twitter.com/vp6h7GPdXA— Joanna Robinson (@jowrotethis) August 24, 2019
Joe is on quest to try and get back to Earth, while encountering another soul who is disguntled and wants to just stay at the You Seminar and never go back. #D23Expo— Eric Goldman (@TheEricGoldman) August 24, 2019
And we finally, finally have a name and synopsis for November 2020 Untitled Disney Animation....and it's NOT Zootopia 2.
Welcome, Raya and the Last Dragon.
Just Announced: Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon, starring @cassandrasteele (Raya) and @Awkwafina (Sisu, the Last Dragon). Check out all-new concept art, and see the film in theaters November 2020. #D23Expo pic.twitter.com/V40bv64IIp— Walt Disney Studios (@DisneyStudios) August 24, 2019
SCI-FIGHTERS
Monster Hunter!
SnakeEyes!
Tenet!
Free Guy!
They look very similar so far, but let's see. The only one I'm really interested in is Tenet and Snake Eyes, because I did love those corny GI Joe movies from 2010.
What are you looking forward to?
