Chapter 3: Tri-Castle-On and Ch. 3 Review

If you're asking "Well, where's Way Too Wonderland? And Courtley Jester?" Well, good question.

I skipped them.

WTW has zero lasting impact on the series.

Apple tells Raven that being evil "Isn't in her destiny", but because Apple considers her wants and needs above everyone else, that quickly changes back to the status quo too.

So why bother? I'll give you an image of Webisode Courtley and be done with it, because I do think she has a super cool design;

I had forgotten about her until I started this again. This design is all sorts of kickass. Courtley comes to Ever After High and isn't even delegated to backgrounder status. You just never see her again.

Doll wise, she was the beginning of a very odd trend, where Mattel would stick a large, golden sticker that said SPECIAL EDITION DOLL on dolls that were inaccurate and underwhelming just because they were special one-shots.

Last episode of Season 3, Onward.

It’ll take a marathon of a miracle for Apple and Raven get back to the Legacy Orchard in time to plant their class’s yearbook tree seed.

Apple and Raven are cheering for their friends engaged in sport, but Apple is still focused on the yearbooks and asks Cedar to take some pictures.

This is the FIRST time these girls had outfits that related to school in some way. Not a ball or a tea party, but cheering for their friends who are running races.

And you know what? They were genuinely nice dolls! Cohesive colors, pants, a royal twist on modern clothing. Surprisingly, the outfits look better in real life!

And it never happened again.

Cerise, Hunter, and Lizzie are the best at their respective sports.

Keeping us down is impossible - we're unstoppable!

The E-Corn Yearbook is to be planted at noon - but oh no! Apple and Raven forgot it at the bleachers!

It stymied me why Raven had school spirit when most people hated her and the administration definitely disliked her Rebels ways, but whatever.

Cedar is still at the track, because she doesn't care about growing a yearbook. She passes the USB drive to Cerise, who runs it to Hunter.

Who sends it to Lizzie.

How it didn't get smashed? Magic!

Whose hit plops it perfectly into the hole, and it grows, and there's a flash-forward.

Chapter 3 is probably my favorite one.

Pros:
FAYBELLE
Multiple, long lasting storylines that expand the world.
Show outfits that are actually migrated into the real world - Through the Woods, Date Night, School Spirit.

Cons:
The storylines are cool, the characters involved are not my favorites and don't quite warm to me but I do appreciate not picking the same people for every plot line.
I don't really like the Yearbook line but that's more personal preference.
Less Briar. But it will get....kind of better.

Season 4....ugh.

1 comment:

  1. Season Three was pretty fun in some bits- the "Yearbook" thing was a pretty weak "tie it all together" thread, though I guess they felt they needed SOMETHING, even if it just put the Raven/Apple conflict right back where it was before.

And yes, Faybelle is awesome. You can tell the writers liked her a lot more than they did Duchess, who could play the "Mean Girl At School", but wasn't truly VILLAINOUS, like Faybelle was.

Season Four now just comes off as hilarious. All that time and effort into introducing all these special, awesome, bad-ass new characters... who NEVER SHOW UP EVER AGAIN because the line was of course cancelled and we never got another movie with them. Some of the newbies had fun concepts and looks, but the dolls were famously sub-par, and of course it doesn't MATTER how cool Jillian Beanstalk was, because you'll never see or hear from her again.

Oh well- at least they released a final EAH book...
