Chapter 3: Date Night / Driving Me Cuckoo

Raven and Dexter overcome their wicked nerves to enjoy an enchanting first date at multi-hex theater.

Date night....in the forest.

Not really, but the Woods Girls have set up camp in Purgatory Woods, and Ashlynn encourages everyone to think of something more pleasant. "Boys!" says Blondie, which is what Cupid was trying to avoid.

Ashlynn tries to be nice, and say that maybe the date won't go well....

Meanwhile, Raven is trying to accessorize. I mean...again, I thought you people were friends. I don't think that much of anyone on god's green earth to want to look perfect for them!

I'm with Apple, who says that it's a night at the movies and not a final hexam. That's something Apple and Faybelle have in common - sure a human connection with others might be nice, but nothing beats success.

Raven has a kickass outfit and, weirdly, it actually got made into a doll! I know! This was a Raven I kind of regret not getting.

Dexter is wearing a jacket over a sweatshirt? Is this what the youth are wearing these days? Seems like you'd get very hot. At least you could take the jacket off.

Anyway, there's a long sequence of them both being awkward around each other that finally concludes with them leaving the dorm room (& Dexter going "I am SO SO SORRY that YOU'RE SORRY.")

I have not edited that in any way shape or form but I'm crying laughing at it.

This theater is kind of weird looking. But the actual stadium screen....

Looks a thousand times cooler. I bet they don't have IMAX or DBOX or 4D. What if it rains?

They're still together!
I should name them too...how about Roland and Avalon.

& They sit on the ground? Aesthetics aren't over comfort. Then there's displays of PDA all around them, coupled with Dexter's babbling, causes Raven to get anxious and freeze everyone with magic.  I've never pointed this out, but I like it. Sometimes anxious people really burst out like that because we want everyone to shut up.

She has a confession to make - She's nervous (No, really?) and Dexter says that he's nervous (Will wonders never cease), and that they should relax and be themselves.

Magic off - screen plays -

Metro-Goldkeep Meyer I guess.

It was a fine episode I guess. Sorry Cupid.

Driving Me Cuckoo

Raven takes Baba Yaga’s office for a spin to help save her friends in the Dark Forest.

My mistake, it was grand theft...chicken house.

Cerise goes to the theater to ask Cedar if she heard from the girls going to the party, because she heard the Three Bears complaining about Blondie - and why would she be in the wrong forest?

This coloring is super neat. Anyway, Cedar realizes that they're in the wrong forest!

They go to Baba Yaga's office to wait for her. Raven's tired of waiting - after all, it is night time, and you shouldn't be in the Dark Forest at night. So she goes to control the chicken-house

Rather badly.

The house ends up running through the school and causing a multitude of damage.

Exterior shots of this world are simply gorgeous. Even with the general nonsense toward it's royalty and heritage, I'd rather live in this world than my own.

Raven gets angry and lights up some magic - I love how the lighting changes when she or Faybelle does this.

A bottle falls from the shelf after the house fell from the top of the school and somehow didn't kill anyone - but it did release Baba Yaga from a jar after a bad spell, so hooray!

She's happy that Raven kidnapped her home, and is even okay with the fact that it's a rescue attempt instead of pure evil, and goes with them to look for the missing girls.

Not ready to do evil.

The real star is seeing this school at night. It's really impressive.

An odd point is how Hunter didn't talk at all - his girlfriend is missing in dark wilderness and he just keeps his eyes wide open. Dexter wasn't concerned about Cupid either, that's his friend!

  1. Raven & Dexter's date is the cutest thing ever- they're hilariously awkward and dolt-ish around each other. The repeated apologies, mistakes, and Apple's look of horrified disgust are all classic EAH moments. I can buy their awkwardness, as Dexter was always a clumsy, nervous one at all times, and Raven's really having her first potential romance, which is something entirely new to her.

You're right about the backgrounds- they're gone so quickly that it's hard to focus on them, but they really are very cool.
