Chapter 2: Poppy the Roybel / O'Hair's Split Ends

Introducing the blandest characters that Mattel never stopped trying to force on us, Holly and Poppy O'Hair, the twin daughters of Rapunzel.

Holly is the younger one who wants the Rapunzel destiny [long hair], and Poppy is the older one who doesn't [short hair]. That's supposed to be a secret. It was probably going to culminate into something, but just like Cerise's secret, ha ha, I can't believe you thought EAH had some sort of follow through.

This is when people started to realize how insanely same-faced most of the white girls were. Besides hair, and even then only slightly, there's not a whole lot of distinction between Apple, Blondie, Poppy, and Holly. Especially in their dolls. Note their eyes here - kind of a very very pale green. Their dolls all have teal-ly blue eyes. Hmm.

I'll give credit where it is due; They do try a little harder with Holly than Poppy. She knows she's going to be in a tower for years, so she's a writer. She's got an agent and everything, and has rewritten her classmate's destinies and put them on her blog. Poppy just cuts hair. Maybe they thought her wearing pants and having short hair was personality enough.

 Surprise! They were wrong.

Poppy O'Hair™ tries to decide whether she's a Royal or Rebel—or a little of both.

Baba Yaga asks if Poppy has decided what classes she wants to take, as she's a late arrival, and Holly has been going to Ever After High for a year and a half. I guess they really abide by the 'heir and spare' mentality in this world, this isn't the only set of twins we're going to be seeing.

Poppy says no, because it all sounds so interesting!

Holly suggests that she talk to the student body about what they like best. I'm pretty sure her voice actress changes later on.

Apple says that running a kingdom isn't easy, that everyone has to be kept happy unless they disagree with her, but it's not like Poppy would be inheriting a kingdom anyway.

"If you're a rebel, you don't have to like being bad," Says Tiny the giant. "Or dislike beanstalks. Or the people who climb them.", which I laughed at. I just realized that we never see - wait, yes we do, later on, one of the final additions to the franchise.

"When you're a royal, you live everyday to it's fullest!" Shouts Briar, before she goes rappelling off a balcony.

"But isn't it important to be who you like?" Cerise says, before quickly rappelling after Briar when Poppy tried to touch her hair.

In the end, Poppy says that she's going to choose both sides, because they both sound great.  But there's really no need for her to pick anything but Rebel since she can't inherit a kingdom.

So, that was pointless. If she was intending to take the destiny at first, it would be a good plot point with both sides trying to win her over.

O'Hair's Split Ends

When Holly and Poppy O'Hair™ discover they were switched at birth, the fairy different twins decide to continue following the stories they always thought were their destinies.

Did I mention that Holly is a huge fangirl of Apple's? Fableous, I know. It's like cloning yourself and becoming your own biggest fan.

Another nice room. These rooms are beautiful! I'm so mad we never saw Faybelle's room.

Holly is talking about how Apple named a bunch of female head wear and Poppy exclaims how "That is so fableous!" when Holly did absolutely nothing.

They make plans to meet up later at the Tower Hair Salon, but Poppy gets a call on her Mirrorpad; It's Nanny Nona, the woman who raised them.

The books say that Rapunzel doesn't live in the tower - in fact, it's a museum that gives its funds back to the city they live in. Anyway, Poppy is older by three seconds - surprise! How does that work? "Magic", I guess.

She's disappointed - Poppy doesn't want her family destiny, and it means everything to Holly.

Poppy is distracted all day, even as she brushes her sister's hair - but when all Holly talks about is Apple, who cares. They go to the Mad Hatter's Tea Shop, where Poppy is still distracted, and Holly finally snaps out of her fantasies.

"I am getting a twin vibe that you are not telling me something," She says angrily - until the clocks go off around them, rendering any talking moot.

Back in their dorm, Poppy finally spits it out. And everyone repeats what Poppy said earlier, about the destinies they like.

When Holly asks if anyone else knows, Poppy says no....but in the books, Rapunzel knows. And never bothered to tell her husband. Because, I dunno, he'd make his girls live out their destinies? It doesn't say. What can he do? He's not the famous fairytale, Rapunzel is!

In said book, they ignore it for a time...and Poppy's hair starts to grow and I forget what happens to Holly, I think her hair goes short - until they admit it to their mother, then everything goes back to normal.

In the webshow? They just keep it a secret, and nothing else happens.

This, Cerise's secret, and the fact that no one poofed after Raven didn't sign the book is supposed to prove that there are 'cracks' in the concept of following destinies, but very few things ever truly come from it.
